I always hire an editor to go over my manuscripts before I publish! Two, actually. After my amazing content editor gives me the lowdown on how my story looks, I revise then send my manuscript off to a copy editor. I have hired my fair share of copy editors and proofreaders in hopes of putting out the cleanest book. Sometimes I have paid too much for too little and been ticked off. A time or two, I have paid too much--period. Sometimes, I have contacted an editor, made a deal, and not heard back for weeks on end.
What does this mean?
It means I know what authors want. Reliable communication. Decent turnaround times. Fair pricing. This is an industry that wouldn't exist without authors.
I work for the author.
